Common problems
I click "listen live", but page just reloads and the player never appears. What's happening?
The streaming audio player opens in a new window. If you have any software installed that prevents pop-up windows from opening, it will prevent the audio player from opening. You will need to temporarily disable any such software in order to listen online. Norton Personal Firewall, Norton Security, and Google Toolbar can all prevent pop-up windows, depending on your settings. Please consult the help files for your particular software for instructions on disabling your pop-up blocking software. Find out more about how to un-block your pop-up blocker.

Why do I need a plug-in to listen to your stream?
StreamAudio, our audio service partner, has upgraded to the ChainCast Content Delivery Network (CCDN) for our streaming audio broadcasts. The ChainCast Proxy plug-in is necessary for your Media Player to communicate with the CCDN. A fraction of your upstream bandwidth, if available, is used to feed streams to other Players in the CCDN. In addition, the ChainCast Proxy will detect if other tasks on your system require bandwidth, in which case, the Proxy will automatically reduce the bandwidth it uses to ensure minimal impact.

Is this plug-in "spyware"? Are you monitoring what I'm doing on the Internet?
Absolutely not! The system is not tracking and reporting your activity,. It simply repeats your stream to other e-listeners through the ChainCast Proxy and monitors the quality of your connection to prevent interference with your connection.

OK, I've read all this, but I still would rather not make my bandwidth available. What can I do?
If you don't wish to use a portion of your available upstream bandwidth, you can configure the ChainCast Proxy during installation so that the ChainCast Proxy does not utilize any of your bandwidth. To do this, we suggest reinitializing the ChainCast Proxy, then reinstalling, this time specifying that you have a modem connection of "33k or lower". The network will then never use your system.

If you're having difficulty installing the ChainCast plug-in, and your computer is using Windows 98, ME, 2000, and XP with Internet Explorer, please visit the ChainCast web site.

Whom do I notify if I have more questions about Chaincast streaming?
